Alto Family Portrait Session

Alto Family -16 (1)

Bright sunshine, sea breeze, a view to die for, and an awesome awesome family! – can there be a radder combination? We were blessed to be invited to be a part of and view the Alto family dynamics on their beach view property. It was the swankiest set up! Everything was just so cozy! from their hide-a-fridge kitchen to the beautiful art created by their talented daughter (Amy).

The Alto’s are just so welcoming it gives us warm fuzzies just thinking about it! What we love about their relationship is how they all act like friends just hanging out.

Alto Family, thank you for allowing Danelle and I see how you do life, and do it well (might I add!). It was absolutely our pleasure to work with you! … also, you are always invited to the balfour party! :P

Bunkowsky Sisters – Portrait Session

Bunkowski Sisters-056

Yes, Yes I know we are about a year late for this one, but we just have so many FANSPECTACULARMAZING portraits of families, couples, and friends we haven’t shown yet. We got really backed up with blogging during our March Rocks Promotion Last year – and I am 100% certain we will be again this year! *hint hint – it’s going to be even crazier this year! Stay tuned for the deets.

We had the awesome opportunity to meet the beautiful Nya and man model Chris :P two years ago. We had sooo much fun with these two in their connection session, and of course their fantastic wedding! In their eternal words, “awesomeness has been achieved”.

The apple doesn’t fall too far from the tree. We met Nya’s sister, Jodi. Instantly she had a personality that drew people to her. Jodi’s smile is heart warming and laugh is contagious.

As for a present for their parents, Jodi and Nya wanted to do a sister shoot – awesomeness was achieved again! This was the first time we shot Jodi, but Nya was a pro. We had so many great shots – but I especially love this one. To warm Jodi up to the camera, big sister, Nya, whispered something in Jodi’s ear. They both busted a gut laughing at something inappropriate/ something they shouldn’t have laughed at. But you know siblings (especially sisters – as Danelle tells me). They can laugh at literally the smallest things!

Amy & Nav – Connection Session

Amy and Nav 95 blog

Nav and Amy are simply incredible! The perfect couple to kick off this year’s Connection Sessions! It is always such a pleasure for us to meet couples that are deeply in love and so interested in excelling in their married lives. Their energy, enthusiasm and charm just stole our hearts. They are an “IT” couple. I can only imagine the amount of impact they will have in their sphere as they grow strong together. I feel really fortunate to be able to write about them and introduce them to you.

We knew from the very beginning they’d be a dream to work with. They trusted us and were so excited about bringing meaning to everything they did. We cannot stress enough that we love purpose and being intentional about how planning is done so we were on board as we began to listen and read about their passion for life and each other. Ral met with them as I was away and when I came back, he raved and raved about how amazing these two were. He kept on saying, “you’re gonna love them” and he was right! It was funny because Nav and Ral found out that they were in the same hockey pool together – small world!! I met them when they came for their Connection planning session, backed by strong family ties and big smiles. I really can’t tell you how many times I felt so refreshed and proud to be conversing with such wonderful people. Bright, lively, and lovable – that continued on during their session with us.

Amy is a dynamo! She’s gorgeous, full of life and a smart cookie. She is a total sweetheart and a perfect match for Nav. Nav is calm, cool and collected! Quite a handsome fellow who rocked his suit well – Ral was eyeing it the whole time! They’re sense of style, warm personalities and trust in our craft tied the session all together… we went over time to play around a bit but it was worth it! And throughout all of this, they kept helping us bring our gear around as we worked! Too kind!!

Nav and Amy, we’re grateful for the opportunity to work with you. Your energy and impact definitely struck us and we’re complete fans. We completely, fully and truly believe that your success in the future will be lasting and strong. We just wish there would be more people like you guys to stand firm and planted in their commitments and promise to family! And although we wish we could have made it for your wedding day, we hope you know that we’ll be thinking about you both and celebrating with you as you are welcomed in to married life in Maui!!

Aloha, Amy and Nav!

January 24, 2010 - 4:34 pm Jason - Awesome shot, looking forward to seeing more. *Brother of the bride. Great job guys!!

Ral and Danelle Do New York City!

The city so nice they named it twice! We think it’s the city so great, if you haven’t gone you’re two thousand and late :) <– Enter whack joke here.

Ahhhh.. New York, let me count the ways :) :) :)  How do you describe an experience that is almost indescribable? Of course we are not the first to go to New York and love it, but we also know many people have gone there and had the opposite experience. I guess it all depends on who you go with, and your purpose for going!

Both Danelle and I have continued to live out the maxim of our marriage, which is ‘to do life together’. We don’t want to just let it happen to us. So New York was an adventure that we couldn’t wait to begin!

New York is simply larger than life. Its energy is contagious, and its grandeur is boundless. We LOVE LOVE LOVED every breath of it!

Hmm.. What is there to do in New York? I guess we tried out a few things (sorry, being a little facetious). With the help of some fabulous family and friends (and couples we shot (THANKS Elisse & James!), we were able to map out different things we wanted to do. With the help of a trust POP-Out map (yes, that’s right a pop out map! Danelle thought I would actually stand on a standard map to navigate) :) and the subway iphone app – we were able to traverse Manhattan!

It felt like 10 days  was WAY too short, but at the same time it was WAY too perfect with the way things worked out! We  saw the sights and sounds of possibly the best city we’ve had the pleasure of doing  :P If there was such thing as a sugar death, Danelle and I would have  fallen victim on the second day of our trip due to excessive eye candy! We  obviously saw Rockerfeller  Center, Walked the Brooklyn Bridge, Hung out at the Museum of Natural History, Strolled through Central Park, Consumed the infamous White Pizza, had a Premiere night with our couple Francesca and Andrew, drooled up a river at Tiffany’s flagship, Soaked in the energy of Time Square,  Memorized all subway stops, woke up to the most New Yorkeriffic view of the city, met a cop with THE thickest NY accent, took a bite out of 5th ave, Mimicked the transporter from Star Trek when going down the elevator for the Apple Store, went and experienced THE experience – “Wicked” on Broadway, whispered sweet nothings at the secret whispering wall, Flew over Manhattan via helicopter, Visit Monica Geller, Chandler Bing, and once Rachel Green’s apartment, Catalogued all the greatest historic findings EVER! by acquainting ourselves with every inch of the Metropolitan Museum of Art (MET), witnessed a New York Minute in Time Square, immortalized ourselves beside the Statue of Liberty, had brief interactions with Taylor Momsen (from Gossip Girl),  Ted Danson (from Cheers), and Donald Trump (from Donald Trump), and made fools of ourselves on Wall Street just to name a few. So ya… we tried out a few things in New York :P

We wished we could have done more things, like watch a lot more Broadway shows, eat more pizza, hang out with fabulous Ladan and Cyrus, eat more pizza, and visit other districts :( However, it makes us look forward to RAD Studio does NYC Version 2! With the experience we had we couldn’t have asked for a better blessing. We would do it again in a heartbeat and change nothing about it (maybe sneak in another slice of pizza perhaps!)

This slideshow below DOES NOT do justice to our trip. Seeing that I took over a thousand pictures and I had to squeeze out only a hundred for a short snipit of our trip – ya, it totally doesn’t do it any justice. But it does demonstrate the eyegasmic time we had!

If any of you want to see the full slideshow (cataloging the MET and all) :P , just input “New York Baby!” in the middle of your comment below (be sure to leave your email address), or email me (r@radstudiophoto.com) with the subject line “New York baby – and I will send you a slideshow link of all our images!

We hope you enjoy the slideshow! Let us know what you think :) :) :)

California Dreaming!

Hope you tucked in well with a snuggie if you are still at home, or have that nice postcard of Hawaii out on your desk to look at as you are eagerly awaiting your next vacation time :P :P :P

I thought it appropriate to finally post some of our fun images of our recent trip to California in lue of our (not so warm) weather in Vancouver.

A few months back, Danelle and I had the awesome pleasure of taking a trip to the sunshine state. With a healthy mix of business and personal ventures, our escapades brought us to San Diego, LA, and the OC. From relaxing on the beautiful sanded (not White Rock) beaches along the coast to Danelle’s super sonic screaming when the Pandas at the San Diego Zoo waved at her – we had a phenomenal time!

Let’s start at the Zoo!

Here is Danelle wondering if she would get in trouble if she stuffed a bird into her pocket to take home :)

Danelle says there’s a resemblance. Honestly, I don’t see it

Pandas!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is where Danelle lost it because the Panada was waiving at her :) :) :)

Party Up a Storm!!!

Is it too soon to party it up like 2999? … Nope! As an ode to New Years Eve 2009, I have compiled some of the most ridonculous party shots of weddings past.

Being commissioned to stay in the reception is ALWAYS so much fun!! Many of you who know me, know that – two of my favorite parts of the day are during the reception. The Toasts and of course the dancing!

I find Vancouver is like California (you never find the dance floor empty (wow, did I just date myself?)). Getting right up in the action lets me see what the guests sees. Thereby allowing our couples to fully experience the party! (<– That’s our business reason. The real reason = it’s a great way for me to show off my new moves that I practiced in front of the mirror).

So we hope that 2009 brought more cheers than jeers, may your 2010 be full of dreams, topped off with passion to achieve them, and many many moments with family and friends to share it! We’ll see you bright and early for 2010! Watch out RAD Studio 3.0 (literally) will have some great stuff/services/surprises/products/news for our clients in 2010. We can’t wait to start the New Year, and we hope you feel the same way!

Be Safe, Be Blessed!

Stay Classy Van City!

Monica & Jeff Portrait Session

Monica-and-Jeff-15-copy

Can anything really compete with the crisp clean air of a fresh late Autumn day? How about a cloudless day with the blaring sun shining to give fantastic light! That’s what happened when we took two absolutely stunning individuals with impeccable taste out for a portrait shoot! Monica and Jeff booked us earlier this year, and finally with our schedules settling down, we were able to schedule our long awaited shoot!

They were so easy to shoot. We joked around that Jeff was practicing in front of a mirror the night before just to get ‘the look’ down :) I wouldn’t be surprised, because what he was dishing out, me and my camera was eating up! Monica was also no push over, with naturally gorgeous lines – you could place her in the corner of a dilapidated shack in the boonies and she’ll make it look good! Her eyes are beautiful and her striking soft freckles on her cheek are to die for!

Monica & Jeff, thank you for the fantastic time we had with you during the shoot. Your personalities, smiles, and demeanor made the shoot fly by and re-instilled that we love what we do, because of the people that help us do it! You are prime examples! We can’t wait for your wedding in the new year!

MOVE COMPLETE!

Extra! Extra! See that RAD Studio’s all about it! (cheeky, I know, right?) :P

We have migrated the face of RAD Studio into the voice or RAD Studio. What does that mean? Well our .NET and .COM sites now point towards our wonderful blog!!! That’s right, the funnel that was our splash page is now our much beloved blog reel! You can still access all the goodness or our WEBSITES at the top in the bio section (in blue links).

We want to give a shout to our man Tim Ubial for helping us migrate all of our stuff, and code up a storm on our behalf. With out that Techie (For the Ladies – I said “Techie”, Not “Trekkie”), we couldn’t have done it without him! If anyone needs a web/code/software guru – he’s the man!

ps. If anyone hits any snags, please let us know! Our site migration from our previous host may still be pre-mature, so we would appreciate the feedback!

Happy Reading!
